11 Things To Get Inspired In Life

11 Things To Get Inspired In Life

What is Inspiration?

How to get inspired? Before knowing this, we must first know what the inspiration is?

If we see the dictionary meaning of inspiration, it is “The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative”.

Let us take one famous example:

Newton sits under the apple tree. An apple falls and hits him on the head. He suddenly becomes excited and full of energy as an idea for the theory of gravity comes to him and he writes it down in his notebook.

In this story, the apple can be called an inspiration as it caused the enthusiasm and the sudden idea. The sudden idea is an inspiration and so is his state of enthusiasm.

This happened to scientist Newton but not every human is a scientist.

There are many times in the life of a normal human being when he feels much uninspired and at the same time he needs to inspire himself.

Maya Anjalow has said very well that “We may encounter many defeats but we must not be defeated.”

So when we feel uninspired, we should not give up but we should find ways to get out of it. Inspiration is everywhere — from the words of your favourite writer to the blooms and leaves on your morning walk. You just need to open your eyes and breathe it in.

It happens sometimes in everyone's life when they feel stuck and uninspired. Don't worry, though, you can get out of this slump. We have to open our minds up to the ways in which we might find inspiration, in which it might cross our paths, and what types of things that we might be looking for inspiration. People find inspiration in nature, through technology, through people who we emulate, through random occurrences, and even within ourselves.

Why Inspiration Matters?

We often overlook the role of inspiration in a culture obsessed with measuring talent and ability. Inspiration awakens us to new possibilities by allowing us to transcend our ordinary experiences and limitations. Inspiration propels a person from apathy to possibility and transforms the way we perceive our own capabilities.

Inspiration may sometimes be overlooked because of its elusive nature. Its history of being treated as supernatural or divine hasn’t helped the situation. But as recent research shows, inspiration can be activated, captured, and manipulated, and it has a major effect on important life outcomes.

  • Inspiration has three main qualities, evocation, transcendence, and approach motivation
  • Inspired people share certain characteristics. Inspired people are more open to new experiences, and reported more absorption in their tasks.
  • Inspiration is not the same as positive affect. Compared to the normal experiences of everyday life, inspiration involves elevated levels of positive affect and task involvement, and lower levels of negative affect.
  • Inspiration is the springboard for creativity. Inspired people view themselves as more creative and show actual increases in self-ratings of creativity over time.
  • The inspiration facilitates progress toward goals
  • Inspiration increases well-being

Ways To Stay Inspired For Life

“We generate fears while we sit, we overcome them by actions.” Dr Henry Link

Here is a list of ways in which we may find inspiration.

Exercise, Yoga And Meditation

Getting outside, moving your body, getting fresh air and working up a sweat are highly creative ways to find inspiration. This is a way in which we tune out the distractions of the outside world, and clear our mind to make space for inspiration and possibilities.

Engaging your body in physical exertion gives you a chance to focus on something besides getting inspired. Focusing on the task of working out gives your brain something to do. However, you'll still be subconsciously working on the issue, and inspiration may breakthrough.

Try working out 3 to 5 times a week, as it helps keep you energized and alert.

Take Time To Read

“A room without books is like a body without a soul” – Marcus Tullius Cicero

Reading can inspire you by providing fresh thoughts and ideas. You can also read blogs from other writers in topics that you are interested in or you can keep one or more motivational books or readings with you to keep on hand for inspiration.

Sometimes it only takes one sentence to get your mind in gear on what you want to achieve in your day, your business and the bigger picture of your life.

We all come at the same problem from different angles and viewpoints, so hearing other thoughts can really give you the newfound inspiration you need to stimulate your own creative process.

Gift Yourself Time Of Your Own

The majority of time in your life will be spent in the consistent company of other people on a regular basis. Even when the connections you have are positive, it is still taxing on your energy to be constantly giving out.

Give yourself a day to just be and do whatever comes to you. You might be surprised at the inspiration that strikes when you least expect it. Put the phone, the laptop, and the TV aside. Allow yourself the chance to a journal, to think, to let your mind wander and imagine the possibilities you have been thinking or, or have been struggling to connect with.

It is important to give yourself this time on a regular basis as we get too caught up with distractions and don’t allow ourselves a chance to really clear our minds and tap into the inspiration within us.

Try To Be Surrounded By Things That You Like

You know what you like, then whether it is music or any beautiful painting or your old hobby. Make these things a part of your everyday life. They'll energize you, which can help create the right mindset for being inspired.

One of the purposes of all of these activities is to calm and distract us. These things will make you feel happier, which will leave you feeling more positive about life. Having a positive outlook can make you more receptive to inspiration.

Go For A Peaceful Walk In Nature

Sometimes disconnecting from the electronic world and connecting ourselves with nature allows us to reconnect with your inspiration. It is a place for us to find what we have lost, and start to move forward again.

Just getting away from the issue for a few minutes may be all you need and it also changes your environment.

Listen To Music

Music is both a motivational and inspirational technique. But we need to make a difference. Seek out music that is different from what you usually listen to and try it out. What about jazz, classical or rap?

Classical music is good for inspiration because it's so complex. It can put you in a better emotional state for absorbing information and help you relax. If classical music isn't your style, pick another style more to your liking.

These are the best types that will relax your mind, body and soul and will wake up the creativity in you and when you are more relaxed and in a better frame of mind for learning, you are more receptive to new ideas that might be the perfect inspiration for the problem you're working on.

Change Your Routine

We get so caught up in our daily routine that we don't even see the things around us. Changing up your routine invigorates your mind with new sights, smells, and sounds, which can provide you with inspiration.

For instance, change up your route to work, pick a different grocery store, or go somewhere new for your cup of coffee. Get out of the house and go somewhere new. A new environment can spark inspiration by giving you a new way of looking at things.

Take An Actual Break

When you’re your own boss, it’s sometimes hard to step away from the screen and take a true break. Often we also have our lunch in front of our screen and respond to calls even after working hours. We keep ourselves online, even when we might think we are resting.

But really, by doing this, we are not giving ourselves a chance to think anything else. If you want to always be inspired in your life, be sure to take a true break during your workday. It makes all the difference in one’s energy level and ensures to have a clearer head for current projects.

Learn Something New

Get outside the boundaries of your own knowledge to learn something new. Why would we suggest this? Because learning something new can be fun and inspiring whether you are good at it or not.

Also, learning something brand new actually stimulates parts of the brain that you were not previously accessing. This alone can go a long way towards forming inspiration and letting your creative juices flow.

Go Beyond Your Comfort Zone

It’s easy to get stuck in a routine. Try something you have never done before that pushes you out of your comfort zone. By breaking the routine of your daily life, you will encourage the flow of ideas.

Beyond your comfort zone in this context means something outside of the normality of your daily routine; something you would not normally do that will spice up your life a bit.

Take A Trip

Travelling someplace, anyplace, can shake up your thinking, creating space for new ideas. Regardless of where you live, there are always a few places like this nearby. It may be a beach, a historical museum, a place from which you can see your whole city, an old library, a forest path, a mountain.

Its magic comes from the way it makes you feel. It must have a different atmosphere that helps you forget the rest of the world and unleash your creativity. There you feel harmony, nothing bothers you and you become more energetic, excited and new ideas and thoughts pop up in your mind.

You don't have to travel to a new country. A simple day trip to a nearby town is often enough to get your creative juices flowing.  If you can't even afford a day trip, try exploring your own city. Visit a park you have never seen, or try a new restaurant with a cuisine you have never had before.

It doesn't matter which method is best for you, perhaps several of them are what you need to cleanse and inspire yourself again, do something. Do not sit and accept that things are what they are. Inspiration is everywhere. You just need to look around and find it. Walk, contemplate, listen, read, breathe and as a result of that – create.
