Holi Events And Parties In Pune - 2020

Holi Events And Parties In Pune - 2020

Holi, the festival of colours and joy, is not a big religious festival but it is undoubtedly the best festival celebrated in Hindu festivals. This festival marks the end of winter and the arrival of spring. Holi falls on the full moon of Falgun month according to the Hindu calendar. This festival is mainly celebrated in India and Nepal. By the way, every festival has its own importance, But Holi is such a festival in which everyone forgets their age, gender, caste, status difference, etc. by playing colour with each other, greets each other and makes a new beginning. Such a unique confluence is seen only in the festival of Holi.

According to Hindu mythology, King Hiranyakashyap enlisted the help of his sister Holika, who had a power given to her by the gods, who was immune to fire, to kill his son Prahlad. But the Prahlada was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu and survived by the grace of Lord Vishnu in the burning fire and in return, Holika died by burning. Enraged by this incident, Lord Vishnu killed the evil king Hiranyakaship and later Prahlad ruled as a pious and popular king.

And since then, that day symbolizes the victory of good over evil and that is why it started being celebrated in Hindus as a festival which is known as Holi.

Pre Holi Preparations

The festival of Holi brings excitement to the entire country. The whole country wears the colour of this festival. Stacks of different colours of Abeer and Gulal are seen at the roadside of the street in the markets. Many types of attractive and modern Pichkaries decorate the shops, which especially fascinate the children.

Women also prepare Gujia, Mathri, Papdi etc. for the celebration of Holi for their families and relatives. Women in North India specially make potato chips and papad at this time.

Significance Of Holi

Most people know the mythological significance of Holi (King Hiranyakashyap and Bhakt Prahlada, the victory of good over evil) but apart from this, Holi also has other significances too.

  • Cultural - As we all know that Holi festival signifies the victory of good over evil, in other words, it advises us to follow good conduct. This is very important in today's modern society when many people resort to wrong methods for their selfishness and torture honest people. Also, the festival of Holi is celebrated at a time when the fields are in full bloom and farmers expect a good harvest which gives them a good opportunity to celebrate.
  • Social – Possibly Holi is the only festival which is celebrated by not only Hindus but also non-Hindus. In the country, it helps bring the society together and strengthens the spirit of secularism. On Holi, people forget their mutual enmity and become friends, there is no difference between rich and poor and there is a feeling of brotherhood in the hearts because everyone loves to be a part of such a great and joyful festival
  • Biological - We should thank our ancestors that they started the trend of celebrating Holi. As we said earlier, this festival marks the end of winter and the arrival of spring Due to this change of weather, the body feels tired and lethargic. By playing colour, singing loudly, dancing, the human body system is revived and feels fresh. Biologists believe that when the liquid colour or Abeer is applied on the body, then it enters the pores and strengthens the ions in the body, keeping it healthy and beautiful. Not only this, but the scientific reason behind it is also, when Holi is lit, then according to tradition, people revolve around the fire and the heat emanating from the fire destroys the bacteria present in the body.
  • Colours - We have identified the mythological, social, cultural, and biological significance of Holi, but being it is a festival of colours, we have to know the significance of it too. Each colour of Gulal has its own significance. Red is of energy and love, Green is for harmony and fertility, Blue signifies depth and stability and Yellow indicates joy and happiness.

What To Wear And How To Be Prepare Be Holi Celebration?

  • We have often seen in Hindi movies that on Holi festival, actors wear white clothes and play colours. You also can wear White outfit for this Holi. Its sounds weird, isn’t it? Now you might feel that Reel Life is different from Real Life. But you know, White colour is associated with safety, purity and cleanliness which indicate that it’s a perfect colour and usually has a positive implication And when other colours are added with white, the mixture of all these will give you great joy. We suggest you wear cheap white because that is for one-time use only.
  • Usually, people wear ragged clothes such as Denim (tattered) and bright shades like green, black, blue, purple etc.
  • When it comes to footwear, it would be better to wear a flip-flop because it gets dry easily and is the most comfortable.
  • One and the most important thing to get prepare for Holi celebration is to apply oil (either coconut or almond) on whole-body before heading out. It helps you to remove the colours from your skin safely.

Safety Tips

  • Use natural colours instead of chemical-based colours, they can harm the skin.
  • Avoid wearing transparent dresses
  • Don’t drink too much Bhang or Drinks
  • Don’t drive if you consume too much bhang or drinks.
  • Women should not go alone in public places
  • Keep your eyes and lips tightly closed when someone is applying colour to you
  • Keep the car windows closed while driving through the streets

WISHING YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, A VERY BRIGHT, COLOURFUL, JOYFUL AND SAFE HOLI....
